Southland Electric, is a member of the Association of General Contractors (AGC) and the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC), which provides continuing education for the electricians employed by Southland Electric.
We are also a member of the Southern Utah Home Builders Association (SUHBA).

CEO
Nephi has been providing leadership at Electrical companies for over 25 years and has extensive business management experience in the electrical contracting industry.
As the CEO of Southland Electric, he provides the insight and vision that facilitates the company’s growth and development.
His compassionate leadership motivates our team members to not only give their best effort every day, but also to focus on continually building upon their skills and specialties.
Dan Derrick
President
Dan Derrick founded Southland Electric in 1992 and owned it until he sold the company to the Expect Excellence Group in March 2023.
Dan is a Master Electrician with over 40 years in the electrical industry. In addition to managing Southland Electric, Dan has served as a Project Manager, Estimator, and Foreman. He has expertise in Commercial, Residential, and High Voltage Underground projects.
Dan graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1986 and a master’s in business administration in 1987.

John is an accomplished master electrician with over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry.
He became an integral part of the Southland Electric team in 2000. He has primarily served as a lead commercial foreman, overseeing and managing numerous projects. Currently, John holds the roles of chief estimator and project manager, showcasing his skills in cost management, value engineering, and in executing project deadlines.
His leadership and dedication extend beyond estimating and project management. John plays an integral part in guiding and developing Southland’s outstanding team of skilled electricians, while working towards future growth and success of the organization.

He has worked on various commercial and residential jobs, specializing in high-end custom homes. He serves as a project manager and residential foreman where he leads, mentors, and manages the residential crew.
John puts a strong emphasis on customer service and does exceptional, quality work. With his knowledge and years of dedicated service to Southland, he is a reliable force in the company’s success.
